The Growing Season Documentary

Thursday, September 27, 2018 7:30pm–8:55pm Megaplex at the District

Don’t let the treasured moments of childhood and the golden years slip away. You can make a difference for both children and seniors through COOL (Circle of Our Lives) Preschool, a portable inter-generational preschool where children have their preschool in existing senior living centers. Inspired by video clips of the Intergenerational Learning Center at Mount St. Vincent retirement home, COOL Preschool is the first and only preschool in Utah to provide this inter-generational approach. Come and see the value of this program for all who participate at a special screening of the documentary The Growing Season.

Movie Presentation of The Growing Season:

Erin Briggs spent the 2012-2013 school year filming three days a week at the Intergenerational Learning Center for children built within Providence Mount St. Vincent, a retirement home for about 400 adults in West Seattle. Her first feature length film, “The Growing Season,” explores “the very real experience of aging in America — both growing up and growing old.”

Q & A to follow

Jayne Corbett and other board member of the non-profit will be on hand afterwards to answer questions about the COOL Preschool program and how it works. Through several years of summer trials they have already seen many benefits for children and seniors through this approach. They have hosted the program in several different senior living centers and have yet to meet one not interested. Help spread the word so families across the Salt Lake Valley can be a part of this revolutionary effort. There will be a special giveaway at the event filled with everything for mom and her kids. (Donations from: Fawn Design, Ezpz, Boon Ties, Usborne, Sodalicious and more!)
